REVIEW: INIKA Vegan Long Lash Mascara & Organic Liquid Eyeliner
Week 7: 100 Days of Pure Living – Low Tox Makeup
Week 7 and I’ve been loving testing out some fantastic low tox make up options, first from RMS (review post here), and now INIKA! With are such great low tox options, why wouldn’t you consider making the switch? After all, many of us are already so focused on removing chemicals from our diets and home environments, and really what you’re putting on your skin is just as important. During my #100daysofpureliving, low tox options have become extremely important to me and I have become very choosy about what products make the cut. INIKA is certified organic, vegan and cruelty free and 100% Australian owned. INIKA is now a globally recognised and trusted brand for organic and natural makeup.
Finding the right mascara and eyeliner can be a bit tricky and believe me I’ve used a few! This week I’ve been testing out INIKA Vegan Long Lash Mascara and INIKA Certified Organic Liquid Eyeliner. Read on for all the info.
I actually found INIKA a bit hard to come by on the Sunshine Coast because everywhere was sold out! I finally tracked it down to a health food store where I was delighted to pick up the all about eyes pack for $45, that included both the INIKA Vegan Long Lash Mascara and INIKA Certified Organic Liquid Eyeliner. Now normally the mascara is $45 by itself so it was a pretty good buy.
I used both the mascara and the eyeliner every day for 1 week along with my MUKTI tinted moisturiser.
First was my certified organic liquid eyeliner in black. I always apply eyeliner first after my eyeshadow, and it glided across my eyelids smoothly and evenly. The felt tip was precise and flexible and the colour, although mineral – very pigmented! I’m no eyeliner expert but I do prefer the clean look of the liquid vs pencil and this eyeliner certainly delivered. Could be messy while you’re getting use to the need for a more precise application, but I think the look is totally worth it and practice makes perfect!
Next was the Vegan Long Lash Mascara in black applied to clean dry lashes. The wand holds a classic shaped brush with short to medium length bristles. There doesn’t appear to be any clumping on the brush the needs removal prior to application (my pet hate). It goes on with a medium wetness and it’s definitely buildable depending on what look you are going for – one coat for day and a couple of coats for night time. There was no smudging or panda eyes at the end of the day either, winning!
I used coconut oil as a makeup remover to easily wipe away both products, plus a little MUKTI cleanser in the shower!
I bought the all about eyes pack which included the 8ml Vegan Long Lash Mascara and 3.5ml Certified Organic Liquid Eyeliner, both wrapped in black and gold tissue paper and then sitting neatly inside the bonus cosmetic bag (although I haven’t been able to find out any details about the bag). There was no extra cardboard packaging inside. INIKA’s tubes, pots and brushes are made from recycled materials and all INIKA packaging is recyclable.

EWG’s rating for all three products: 2 (mascara only rated)
// the good
- Certified organic
- Vegan & cruelty free
- Easy to apply liquid liner with great pigment
- Clump free buildable mascara
- Minimalist packaging great for travelling or use on the go
- 100% Australian owned
// the bad
- Price, expensive end, although the two product combo is a great buy!
// the verdict
Eyes are the windows to our soul, so love them hard and look at making the change away from those nasty heavy metals and endocrine disruptors. I love using my INIKA mascara & eyeliner, and there is certainly no compromise on quality here when making the switch to a more natural option, in fact it’s actually even better!
